Sermon Text: Mark 9:30-37

 

Theme: I want to be the Greatest!

 

Peace an grace from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  to all of  you Amen

 

³⁰ They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, ³¹ for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” ³² But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. ^[1]

 

First of all I want to have an illustration just remember when you went to school and of course some of you when the teacher was instructing something to you in class, you are like what ? what is he or she  saying ? I don’t understand what is saying, let me tell you those things happen to me so often in school whit some particular teacher when she was explaining to me how is have to be, to do it and resolve the situation, specially on Math, I’m not very good on it,  I remember spending some many time in class and even though my parents pay to me a particular teacher for instructing me privately Math. But it was really hard to me to understand, all the equations.

and I was Afraid to ask my teacher, to explaining to me again, really, I don’t understand why this things happened to me on particular, probably because I had ADHD and I didn’t know about it, my mom just thought that I was a hard head ,and to me it was kind a hard to  make a relationship whit the greatest student in the class, first of all because they are the Greatest, you know how it works, and some of them are really arrogant ! because they are the Greatest, 

some many people act like that they thought because of his Situation or popularity they deserved everything and they have to be served, how many people known like that, really sometimes many politicians or Public servers acting on the same way they believe because they  are and that Position have the authority to do whatever they want and of course they are  totally wrong. Just imagine the Disciples of Jesus, They spent 3 years Daily with the Master teaching them instructing them and they still don’t get it, imagine the frustration of Jesus, the disciples saw some many miracles from Him, seeing the lame walk, the blind, see, and the Mute speak, and seeing Jesus Walking on the Waters and Still the Disciples didn’t get it, 

how did you feel ? you are like the Disciples? did you really understand what Jesus want from you, after he is teaching you instructing you every Sunday on bible study and hearing the preaching of the Pastors here in church? Or you are afraid to ask ? like the disciples where afraid to ask Jesus because they don’t get it !! I can imagine Jesus Frustration seeing His Disciples becoming a hard head.

 

And even though I can’t imagine my math professor frustration when she ask me some many times did you understand ARTURO ? and I was telling her yes I got it, but then the reality was that, I didn’t, when the test became I was totally confused and frustrated because I didn’t learn anything from my Teacher.

Jesus was doing exactly the same Teaching the Disciples for the final Test, Jesus has to died in the Cross to fulfill what was written, and give His life in ramson for all of us, and rescue us from the eternal damnation on hell , and give us His life and the forgiveness of sins, so everyone who confess they’re sins and believe That Jesus Christ is the Lord it will be saved for the eternal Death.

So Jesus was Teaching, but the Disciples don’t Get it, did you really get it ?

Or you will be acting like the Disciples Instead of being Humble and ask ? what He want from us 

For what Jesus was preparing Us to be Ready? Well let me told you this First of all Jesus was preparing us to be ready when the Final Test came He is preparing us to be ready to give an answer to those who doesn’t know about Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He want from each of us to be His Disciple, to be Witness of Him and share with others what Jesus Christ has done for you and for everybody, why it is important to Share, Just imagine This situation 

What is going to happen if the Disciples of Christ didn’t share whit Others the Life Death and Resurrection of our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ, probably some many of us, most certainly you and I we are not be here today at Church Hearing the Gospel of Or Lord Jesus, so what Jesus was doing and want from us, He is Equipping us  Through the Holy Spirit who is the one to keeping us  growing  in Faith every time, when we partake of the Lords Supper He is One more time Equipping us and sustaining us Through the means of Grace and sacraments, to be the Disciples Jesus want us to be, for the love of others and for the love that Jesu Christ had for us, so How the Church Grow ? 

Just Remember the Apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost, The Holy Spirit was upon of each of them, like it is on each of us, so they Star Talking about the Life Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, sharing it’s the Key,  some people can be able to hear and the Lord will Convert them, let us be ready for the Task we had in charge with the Help of God to be prepared and be Faithful Witness of Jesus Christ.

 

Who Is the Greatest?

³³ And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” ³⁴ But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. ³⁵ And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” ³⁶ And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, ³⁷ “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

Jesus was ready to go and suffer the Cross for all of us, He always was talking about His Dead but also was talking to His Resurrection, to the Disciples but  the Disciples was afraid to asking about it, they didn’t  understand that this it has to be happening to be able to save the world of the eternal death and  condemnation, but instead of be Humble they’re were arguing of each other who was be the greatest always some people wants to be exalted it is the way of the desire of being recognize to have power Authority etc.. it is on our flesh because our sinful condition always we want to being served so Just imagine the Power you can have all the authority and anything you want, you could be richer said something you want and received because you say it, so the Disciples really didn’t understand about the real meaning of being the Greatest, and of course Knowing what it is on they’re harts, ad his Thoughts Jesus call the twelve and start teaching them again, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” ³⁶ And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, ³⁷ “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

He wants us to be Humble, not on a position to be Exalted and being served, He said to everyone who was exalted it will be humiliated, and Jesus wants from us to be Humble, to be the last one and be a servant, Jesus always gave us his living example  He was in His Kingdom and He doesn’t Hesitate to came to the earth and gave His Life to becoming a Servant Humiliated Himself in The Cross to be able to paid in full our Rescue for the eternal condemnation, He was suffering the penalty of our guilt, so he teach us, because of His love and Kind to all of us to be humble to be ready to serve others as He served us to love one of each other as He Loved us, He Doesn’t DIFERENCIATE race skin color etc.. all of us are sinful people and He do it because He love us,

So you and I as disciples of Christ we  learn from his Example, and love our neighbor as ourself, Christ wash the feet of His Disciples teaching them one more time to be Humble, Jesus through the Holy Spirit is inviting us to be a true Servant of Christ, to be Humble and you will be exalted when the Lord Jesus Christ call us to His Presence.  We have Not to being arguing how to be Greatest or trying to seek our own exaltation, He told them to any one who received a child in His name He will be receiving the One who sent Him, why a Child ? because a Child has not a ambition they’re more like humble, kind, the Innocent mind yes a child it is Still a sinful person but , of a Child it is important to Jesus 

A Child has Faith without asking so many questions. An the Child trust in you if you said something to them so Christ want us to be like a child Faithful and trusting on Him, so Childs also need Help for someone to do something that is commanded to do, so as it is to us we need de Help of Christ in our lives to be able to keep doing what it is important as Disciple of Christ

Because of our Strength we simple cannot do it, we make mistakes, so instead to trying to be a Greatest and make it by your own strength let us Trust in Christ Jesus who is the only one who help us to continued Running this Race, and at the end of this Race be able to have the Crown of Victory in Heaven with our Heavenly Father . and heard the most beautiful Words  of our Great Master

 

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’.

Amen

 

May the peace of who surpasses all understanding keep you Hart and Mind for the life everlasting Amen
